A breakout season for Betteridge.  For the past few seasons Betteridge has lacked that offensive output to take him up a level but thankly this season he has managed to do so as it has been one of the few high points from this season as evidenced by all the awards he won at Panthers awards evening.  He puts in 100% effort every shift (if only all of Panthers players could have done that this season we might look back on this season a bit more fondly) and has continued is excellent defensive work 5 on 5 as well as on the PK.  A must keep for the brit core and hopefully he can carry on his improvement like he has done this season.

This has been Betteridge’s best season in a Panthers shirt without a shadow of a doubt.  He is a player who gives 110% every game and has been rewarded with his highest point total with the Panthers.  This season would have gone a lot better for the Panthers if all of the players had the same desire and application as Betteridge and he is a must sign for 19/20.

The shining light in another dismal Panthers campaign and most people’s player of the season.  Ollie has grown into a key player for the Panthers.  Doesn’t give up, ever, and has started to add goals to his resume too.  The future is bright for this one, I hope he continues to improve and is a Panther for a long time, unless he tries his luck abroad.

A real stellar season from Ollie whose all-action performances right from start to finish rightly won him a whole host of accolades, as well as an ever-growing space in the hearts of Panthers supporters.  Players like Betteridge are invaluable to any club and the almost limitless energy he brought to the rink for every game shone brightly through.  It was hard not to feel slightly sorry for him, a guy clearly giving everything he had, when others on the roster regularly failed to meet those extremely high standards.  With such a sub-standard league campaign, it would have been easy for Ollie to be impacted by the general malaise and take his foot off the gas – particularly with GB’s WC Pool A tournament on the horizon.  But it’s to his credit that he stuck with it the whole way and continued to lead the way with his hard skating, forechecking and honest endeavour, whilst with each passing year his offensive output strengthens.

If you haven’t listened to any of our podcasts for the last couple of seasons I’ll catch you up briefly, I think Ollie is brilliant!  If he could add more goals to his game he’d be the player I would want to build a team around.

“Ollie Betteridge didn’t give 100% on that shift” – said NO ONE EVER!  Effort is no issue here, a few of the team around him would have done well to take note because this young man is relentless, skates quickly, chases the opposition down, battles in corners, works tirelessly on the penalty kill and he doesn’t care who, or how big, you are, if Ollie lines you up for a check he will finish it.  Just needs some more goals, that’s it, period!
