Paul Balm
Solid, dependable and often not especially visible. All things I like about a defenceman. Was he great? No. Was he awful? No.
Jono Bullard
Looked very good early season but similar to the rest had a downturn in form as the season went on. That said you didn’t tend to notice him much which I like in a defenceman because if you’re not noticing them, they’re doing their job and not making any horrendous errors.
Andy Haywood
The tale of 2 seasons for Billingsley in my opinion. Started off absolutely sublime, quickly became one of my favourite players and was that steady presence at the back that could easily go unnoticed.
Then I made the mistake of saying that he was the best pure defenceman we’ve had since Jason Beckett, and it all went downhill from there. Became very passive in his defensive style and was a turnover machine for large chunks of games. He certainly got better after a really low ebb, but never reached the heights of the early season for me.
Antoine Marie-Jeanne
Steady and a definite character. The sort of player you don’t really notice…until he scores a wonder goal. “OK” is probably the best way to describe him. I’ve seen better, but then I’ve seen much worse too.
Adam Reddish
More noticeable towards the start of the season, and similarly to Spang, enjoyed advancing up the ice to contribute to team offence. Whilst not as visible during second half of the 2017-18 campaign, the beauty of Billingsley’s defensive game is its simplicity which was evident back in his own zone, keeping things basic but effective.

Jeff Brown was really excited to have “The Billdozer” sign for the Panthers so naturally I expected to see bodies flying and crunching hits. What arrived was a no-frills defenceman who doesn’t do anything flashy and doesn’t make horrific mistakes, I’m not disappointed, I was expecting something different but I’m not disappointed. Got his head down and did the job, that’ll do me.
